Golf Outing at Indian Canyons Golf Resort

I had the pleasure of a round of golf at the Indian Canyon Golf Resort here in Palm Springs.  This was my first time there and I was not disappointed. The layout was excellent even though it is not as long as other courses.  It is just under 6000 feet from the white tee’s and a par 72 total.

Indian Canyons Golf ResortWhen I arrived I was greeted by a great new clubhouse and restaurant. The attendants were very friendly and I had my rental clubs and cart within minutes. They even gave me a free token for the grass driving range! The fee was low as this is “power raking” time for re-seeding but did not really effect the course conditions other than look.  The greens were dry but overall in great condition.

The scenery was outstanding and the pace of play was above normal. There are allot of sand traps ( I found my fair share) strategically placed on the course and if you are a 250 yard drive person like me, accuracy helps as I was in a few fairway bunkers which didn’t help my score. This course is also very forgiving but be careful of the water hazards and the OB on a few holes. These are well marked and it helps to download the course layout from the site before playing.

Overall, this was a great outing and I would definitely play there again.

To your golf travels,

Larry

A Palm Springs Visit Must Include a Trip to El Paseo

El Paseo Fountain Square

We are down in Palm Springs quite often and always manage to take a drive down the El Paseo in the Palm Desert area of Palm Springs. I mean this is ‘the place’ to see the best of the shopping in the desert. This a great drive down El Paseo Drive looking at all the high end stores as well as a nice sprinkling of local artist shops and restaurants.

I am talking “Coach“, “Saks Fifth Ave“, “Ann Taylor“, “Tiffany and Co” and my personal favorite, “Tommy Bahama“. There are allot of stores here that seem to cover about 5-7 blocks and there are 2 lanes running down each side with a nice landscaped boulevard.

There is plenty of parking and you can even use their free shuttle that runs up and down the whole shopping district. My sons (age 20 and 22) were down with us last Christmas and there were some nice Aston Martin cars on display near the fountain you see above which made their day!

Make sure you mark this on your ‘things to do in Palm Springs’ next time you are down…it is worth the visit even if you are a window shopper like me.

Kind Regards,

Larry
