Places to Visit While in Palm Springs
The Living Desert
The family and I were in Palm Springs last Christmas and wanted to do something different while there, and we noticed signs for the “The Living Desert” Zoo. I was a bit skeptical of what kind of a Zoo the Coachella Valley would have, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
There was plenty of parking and the entrance fee was quite reasonable, less than 12 dollars each. You can pay a bit more and get on the Zoo tram that takes you to most of the exhibits (get off and on as many times as you like) but we choose to walk. I think it was a pleasant 1.5 miles if I remember correctly and there were plenty of seniors walking as well which tells you it wasn’t that bad.
The exhibits were excellent and featured native animals as well as plants as well as your exotic animals. The best part was that the exhibits were so close that you had a much better view of the animals than at most Zoo’s. I definitely would go back again as they are adding a new Lion exhibit soon I hear. I have posted more pictures below as well. Enjoy!
